An accident in the school library

Silence weight heavily in the air-conditioned library. Mary walked briskly to the borrowing counter. She handed a reference book and a CD on the life cycle of dophins, together with her library card, to the librarian.
The librarian scanned her card and the books. a fter her loan had been processed, Mary muttered a word of thanks, gathered the borrowed itemsin her arms and turned to leave. She congratulated herself- she had obtained research materials for her science project with ease.
Mary was studying the pictures on the CD case when a boy with short stumpy legs rammed into her. "Ohhh!" Mary cried in dismay as she was sent reeling backwards.
" Oops! Sorry! I-I was just..." the boy stammered nervously. As he bent forward to pick up Mary's book, there was a sickening crack. A shade of red crept from the boy's neck up his face. Mary drew a deep breath.
The CD!
At Mary's sharp gasp, the librarian looked up from her book, " What happened?" Mary picked up the CD case which had been cracked and flashed it at the librarian.
" I'm so sorry! I-" the boy was on the verge of tears.
"I have spare cases! Don't be reckless in future! the librarian wagged a finger at the errant boy. Nodding dutifully, the boy hurried away.
Mary only shook her head as she waited for the librarian to return with a new case.
" What a reckless person!" she mused.

Never Play With Fire!!!

"Riiiiing!!!" the school bell rang shrilly, Kate, a cute but naughty plump girl was skipping home merrily as her parents promised to bring her to watch "Kung Fu Panda 2" at NEX. When she reached home, she greeted her father and asked where was mother.

Apparently, her mother was going to be late but not to late for the movie. When she was watching a cartoon her father suddenly snored so loud that she nearly jumped out of her skin. "Now daddy is asleep. No one can play with me. Its so boring.... Ahhhh..." she yawned, "Wonder if theres anything to play with?" She walked to the laundry room to find things to play. She opened the cardboard and saw a box of matches. Lots of mischievous thoughts was floating in her head.

She took the box of matches and started rubbing it against the match box as she seen what her relatives had done before. " Ck ck ck." she failed to lit the matches at first then finally she succeeded in lit ting one of the matches. But she carelessly discarded the match at the laundry basket the  discarded match turned the laundry basket into a miniature inferno.

She did not notice the fire behind her until she smelled some unpleasant smell and she turned. To her horror, the laundry basket was engulfed by smoke and flames. Gathering her wits, Kate crouched low and moved toward the living room. Her eyes were smarting and she felt as though her lungs would burst she hastily called her father. Her father hurled buckets of water at the fire. Within a short time, she had managed to douse the fire.

After dousing the fire, he pulled Kate to the living room in a towering rage. Kate's father was indignant." What did you think you were doing?!!!" he demanded.

"I...I...I was just curious. Please forgive me for my foolishness, Daddy. I promise that I will think twice before I do things." Kate hanged her head low and stammered.

Even though Kate had did a foolish thing but she did turn a new leaf. Her father saw that she had proved her repentance through actions to atone for the wrongs he had done. Her Father was touched by her deeds and forgave her.

Kate  always thought twice before she does things. It was definitely a valuable lesson for her.

Recycling Day

"Girls, today is the Recycling day and also Earth day. As you may know, the ozone layer is thinning and the EI Nino and EINina wind currents have wreaked havoc in many part of the world. You may also have read about the heat wave in many countries. All these have come about because Man has been irresponsible. We teachers would like all classes grouped into four or five participate in what we called " Recycling Day Projects" where each group has to submit a proposal to do something. The group which has the most votes from the teachers will recieve an award."

This morning speech given to us was by our principal, Miss Christina Teo. I was very excited about this as I have a keen love for the enviroment, "Let's collect recycle materials that can be recycled like cans,Yakult bottles, plastic, newspaper, glass bottles. We are going to do a Swimming Complex.
Our group readily agreed to the proposal and we set aside every Tuesday to to collect recycle materials from neighbours. In addition, our group churned out a leaflet using recycled paper which highlighted the importance of the enviroment. This was given away to every household.
Putting aside our heavy homeworks workload was no mean feat. We found some that some residents were very happy to oblige, while others were very grouchy. We were happy that we had finish our recycling project. The following during assembly, the principle had this announcement to make," Class 4 Faith, group 3 wins the top award."Our group beamed with happiness as we went foward to recieve a $50 cheque from the principle.

A Tresurable Holiday

Have you gone Ski boat ridding? I had one exhilarating experience in Phuket, Thailand. My parents had decided to bring the whole family there for a holiday as it was June holidays.

We arrived in Phuket after a three hour flight and proceeded to the hotel. The journey to the hotel was rather interesting. On both side fo the both side numerouse stalls selling Thai Products design to entice tourists. This route was also brimming with an abundance of outdoor restaurants. During One of the meals there, I throughly enjoyed the fresh air. The vibrant atmosphere immediately placed me in a holiday mood, away from the stresses of books and classrooms

The hotel staff welcomed us most courteosly. The hotel was posh with gargantuan chandeliers hanging from a ceiling that was very high.Being situated on the outskirts of town, this hotel faced a pristine beach. The sand was so soft, it felt like snow! My dad brought us snorkeling, car ridding and of course swimming.

But what I enjoyed the most throughly was Ski boat the ridding- something which my mother dissuaded me but because of my dad accompany, mother agreed. My father drove further and further into the sea. Fearful though I was, I put on a brave front as we drove further.

As we were away in the sea, I had this feeling of freedom in my inner spirit. I wished for that moment to last forever. It was an experience that I will always treasure.

An Ungrateful Hawker....

When I was walking home, it suddenly started to rain. The raindrops went "Pitter patter, Pitter patter!" I darted across the street and sough shelter in a food court.
As it was lunch time, there was long snake-like queue in front of every stall. I headed to the fishball
stall. The hawker was an elderly man who was looking grumpy. His hair was an entangled in mess grey.
When it was my turn, I orded a fishball noodles in soup. The hawker told me to sit down and wait.

To my horror! The hawker picked up two fishballs which had dropped onto the wet and greasy floor and put them into my bowl of noodles.Appearently he thought no one had seen him. Smillingly,he waved and beckoned to me.I stormed
towards him, my face turing red with anger. "How could you do this! You put dirty fishballs into my
bowl!" The hawker denied vehemently but I continued to rant and rave he finally admitted." Yes, I've done it so what do you want?" " I want my money back!" I demanded.
The hawker dig his hand into a metal tin and pulled a two dollar note. He muttered some curse under his breath and thrust the money into my hand and turned away.the queue in front of his stalldispersed almost immediately .Gloating I turned and walk to the chicken rice stall.
